Porto to the Douro Valley: Route Map & Travel Guide
The Douro line runs from Porto along one of Europe's most beautiful river valleys, through the port wine vineyards to Régua, Pinhão and Pocinho.
Getting from Porto to the Douro Valley
The Douro Valley starts about 100 km east of Porto. The train is the most relaxing way to get there: the line follows the river for much of the way, with vineyard terraces on both banks.
By Train
Regional and InterRegional trains leave Porto São Bento and Campanhã for Peso da Régua, the main town of the wine region, in about 2 hours. Some continue to Pinhão, about 30 minutes further, and to the end of the line at Pocinho, about 3.5 hours from Porto. Trains run roughly every one to two hours.
